Clock Blog
Our blog incentive scheme
At Clock we have introduced a blog incentive scheme, and I thought I'd share it with you - in case you might want to do something similar, or just in case you are interested.
It is a 6 monthly prize allocation system, and the prizes are worked out via the following metric:
The most popular blog post (by unique views for each month) gets 5 points, the second most popular gets 3 points and the third 1 point.
The blog post can only claim points for one month, so if it starts life in the first month in third place but gets increasingly popular as the months go by - unfortunatelty it will only get the solitary point. We decided upon this rule as otherwise very popular posts would take the points each month and it would result in people thinking they cannot compete - we want to incentivise blogging.
and so, the prizes
After 6 months, the points are tallied, and in the monthly company meeting the prizes are allocated as follows:
- The author with the most points gets £250
- 2nd: £200
- 3rd: £150
- 4th: Bottle of wine (choice of red or white)
- 5th: Bottle of wine
If multiple people have the same number of points, the prize is split accordingly... except the wine of course, which will simply result in more bottles of wine being handed out.
Tactics may vary, so the winner come the end of February could be someone that simply posted 2 or 3 very popular posts or it could be someone that posts every month but isn't quite seeding the posts in the right manner or perhaps leaving the marketing of the post as an organic process.
Do you have your own scheme? We'd love to hear what you think of ours..
